FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DOES IT HURT?
Pain is relative, and everyone has a different pain tolerance. We're not gonna lie though... it hurts. The pain of a tattoo is usually different than what most people expect. Some people have explained the sensation as a scratching feeling. After we start someones first tattoo we usually hear "oh that's not too bad."
HOME TATTOOING
Don't do it. Don't put your health at risk for a cheap tattoo. You'll probably pay more having to cover it up in the future anyway.
TATTOO SUPPLIES
We do not sell tattoo equipment. If you're seriously considering a career in the tattoo industry ask a reputable shop for an apprenticeship. This is the ONLY respectable way to become a tattooist.
UNDER THE AGE OF 18
Anyone under the age of 18 wanting tattooed or pierced will need consent from their parent, guardian, or custodian. The parent, guardian, or custodian will need to appear in person and sign a document provided by Tattoo Tech. We also require a copy of their ID.
SHOULD I TIP MY ARTIST?
Tipping is a really nice gesture!
But, there are no real solid ground rules for tipping. A tip is a compliment on a job well done.
FINGER TATTOOS
Finger tattoos can look really cool when done correctly. Unfortunately, finger tattoos fade quick and sometimes nearly disappear. Make sure to take this into consideration especially since they are in a highly visible area.
TATTOOS WHILE PREGNANT
Pregnant women, or anyone with a chronic serious condition, should get the advice of their doctor before getting a tattoo.
PAYMENT
We accept cash, credit, and debit. There is a $3 fee to use the credit card machine. Sorry, no checks.
SHOULD I EAT BEFORE THE TATTOO?
YES. It is ideal to eat within two hours of being tattooed. Please eat plenty of protein, and be well hydrated. Having stable blood sugar bolsters your immune system and helps the body deal with the fluctuation of endorphins, which are emitted during the tattoo process.
WHAT SHOULD I GET?
This is just a matter of personal taste. Do you like flowers? Maybe you like abstract art? The possibilities for tattoo designs and styles are endless. Bring us an idea or a reference photo and we will work to create something you'll love. Our artists might also have some designs they want to tattoo, so don't be afraid to ask for original art!
WHITE PIGMENT TATTOOS
Yes it is possible to tattoo white ink. many artists use it to add highlights and to create certain effects. White ink by itself on skin can make for interesting tattoos, but do your research.
CLEANLINESS
We are 100% certified by the department of health. We maintain a high standard of cleanliness at the shop. We use a high quality autoclave to sterilize any non-disposable equipment. Red sharps containers are used for safe disposal of needles.
CAN YOU TATTOO OVER A SCAR?
It depends on the severity and maturity of the scar. This is judged on a case-by-case basis.
